## When to Use

Use when asked to analyze, design, or optimize a supply chain or logistics operation. Also when managing procurement, inventory, warehousing, supplier relationships, shipping routes, or demand forecasting. Do NOT use for personal shopping, one-off shipping labels, or consumer package tracking — those are different workflows.

## Methodology

### Phase 1: Map the Current State

Before changing anything, document the current supply chain as-is:

1. **Identify the chain stages**: Raw materials → Suppliers → Manufacturing → Warehousing → Distribution → Retail/Customer. For service-based supply chains, replace physical stages with information/service equivalents.
2. **Document flows**: Material flow (physical goods), information flow (orders, forecasts, invoices), financial flow (payments, credit terms).
3. **Gather metrics for each node**: Lead time, cost per unit, defect rate, capacity, utilization.
4. **Map constraints**: Bottlenecks, single points of failure, regulatory boundaries, seasonality patterns.
5. **Identify stakeholders**: Who owns each node? Who are the customers (internal and external)?

**Completion check**: You have a stage-by-stage map with named suppliers, locations, volumes, and lead times for each node. If any node has no data, note it as a data gap — do not fabricate.

### Phase 2: Demand Forecasting

Do NOT start with a complex model. Start simple and add complexity only when needed.

1. **Gather historical data**: Minimum 12 months of sales/demand data by SKU or product family. Use `web_search` or ask for uploaded data (CSV or spreadsheet).
